Global author royalties reached a record €13.97 billion in 2024. Ukraine was named the fastest-growing market in Europe.
€13.97 billion — that is how much authors around the world collected in 2024. An all-time record, according to CISAC. This is data from the annual CISAC Global Collections Report 2025 — the largest annual report on author royalty collections in the world.
Global picture
€13.97 billion — an all-time record. This is royalties: money that authors received for the use of their works on streaming platforms, radio, at concerts, and in businesses around the world. Overall growth for the year: +6.6%.
37% came from digital platforms, and that share has been growing for ten years straight. In 2024, digital collections exceeded €5 billion for the first time — seven times more than in 2015. Live music added +9.6%. Over the decade, total global collections grew +65%.
Regions are growing at different rates. The fastest-growing are Africa (+14.2%) and Central and Eastern Europe (+13.8%). For comparison: Western Europe — +6.1%, Canada and the US — +10.0%.
Ukraine — Europe's fastest-growing market
UACRR (Ukrainian Agency of Copyright and Related Rights) is a CISAC member and represents Ukraine in the global collective rights management system. In its report, CISAC named Ukraine the fastest-growing market in Europe by royalty collection growth rate in 2024.
UACRR collected UAH 67,285,853 in 2024 — nearly three times more than the previous year. In euros, CISAC records approximately a fourfold increase. 63.3% of all collections came from digital platforms.
This growth was made possible by royalty income from digital platforms, new licensing agreements with Ukrainian radio stations, and an increase in licensed venues for public performance of music.
Ukraine's absolute collection figures remain significantly below most European markets. The current momentum reflects the significant potential of the collective rights management system rather than its maturity.
